There are many reasons to go vegan, but we are going to explore 3 great reasons you should go Vegan in 2018. Bring in the New Year, with a new you making choices that are kinder, healthier and environmentally friendlier.
(1) The first reason is very obvious for myself and has always kept me true to the vision and that is that you will save animals lives. It is so true! When you decide not to buy animal products of any kind, you will save the lives of animals. Many people think…. well its already dead, so its a waste not to buy the animal flesh in the grocery store. This could not be further from the TRUTH! When you purchase a piece of meat, a leather bag, leather shoes or leather couch, that alerts the seller to repurchase the item. Therefore, the animals keep getting bred over and over in awful circumstances. See link below of how many animals are killed each second. It is staggering!!
(2) The second reason is that you will feel better physically and mentally that you have made this choice. You may not notice it right away, but you will feel better about your choice not to eat meat mentally. I won’t deny that at first, it is difficult socially, as so many people don’t understand how or why you would choose this. Its almost like you got a target on your back for being the joke of the family or the colleges at work. This is a such an epic time to educate yourself, so that you can educate others about the animals conditions and mostly that the animals want to live.
In order to get the most of your health benefits, it is best to research what to eat and how much. I just dove in and watched videos on what to eat. There was all sorts of options, like;
- raw vegan
- rawtillwhenever vegan
- rawtillfour vegan
- low fat high carb vegan.
I am sure there are many more options but those were the few I was looking into at the beginning of my journey. In order to get the health benefits of being vegan… then eating whole foods plant based is best. What that means is eating plants in there whole form as opposed to processed food. So ask yourself the question…. will I find this food item on a bush, in a tree, or in the dirt on a farm? If the answer is yes then it is likely to be a whole plant.
I want to close the second reason with this… most really healthy vegans eat really simple whole foods and do eat some processed but 80% to 90% of the time they are eating whole foods cooked or raw!
(3) The third but very important reason is the environment. I don’t know about you but I can see climate change. I am 53 years old and my daughter is 28, and we have seen a lot of changes in temperature and the climate itself. I don’t need a scientists to tell me that we need to change things on this earth. Probably the easiest one and quickest is to eliminate meat and dairy from your diet to help the environment. We live in a society where meat and dairy are in everything. Its saturated our markets, but it is making our planet sick. The raising of cows, pigs, chickens, and fish generates so much greenhouse gas emissions.
Its time for change in 2018, join the shifting of consciousness to eat plant-based foods which is essential to combatting climate change, soil, air and water pollution, ocean dead zones, and myriad other problems caused by industrial livestock production. You can make a difference in 2018 for the animals, for yourself and for the environment. This is a win, win, win situation!
